Robin isn’t one to sit on the sidelines. She’s not going to be the ‘good girl’ and get the drinks and lunch while some man works on her car. She’s the type to jump right in the middle, getting greasy and learning what to do to make her cruiser better.

Since the wagon ran pretty darned good when she got it she decided to attack the body work first. She enrolled in an adult ed auto body class and has been hard at it ever since.

The first step was the tail gate. Old Mopar wagons are famous for the bottoms of the tailgates rotting out due to water and dirt collecting there. Her wagon was typical. She took the tail gate off and stripped it down to bare metal. Once this was done all of the rusted areas were cut out and new metal was put back in. Robin learned patch repair, welding, and how to spray primer while in class.

Here are some pictures of her shooting primer on her tailgate and some of Matt’s van parts…

Shooting primer/paint is a lot harder than it looks! It takes a steady hand and a lot of coordination...not to mention the "zombie hunter's" mask!
Once the tailgate was sealed and primed she started attacking the rest of the wagon, cleaning all the rust areas and sealing them with ZeroRust. ZeroRust is a rust encapsulator.

When she was certain she had stopped the rust from doing any more damage she moved to the passenger side rear of the wagon and started installing needed patches, smoothing dents, and preparing the wagon for primer.

Here is her work so far…

Robin will be the first to tell you she has a large 'support group'. We Misfits’ tend to stick together and help each other when needed.

Her ‘support group’ would be the first to tell you Robin isn’t afraid to pick up a wrench and get dirty!

Keep checking back for more on her progress…
